Strong Roots. Strong Future.
I’m proud to put my name forward as a candidate for Division 4 Councillor in Red Deer County. This is more than just where I live, it’s my home, my community and a place I love. I feel a responsibility to give back to the place my family has lived for four generations. I want to serve with honesty, accountability, and common sense at the Council table. As your Councillor, my focus will be on the fundamentals that matter most to rural residents. These priorities reflect our strong roots and the opportunities ahead for Red Deer County.

About Julie
I grew up in Red Deer County on a horse farm just outside of Bowden, where I learned the values of hard work, family, respect for community, and appreciation for the land. After graduating from the University of Calgary and working away, I returned home and now live on an acreage just a mile from where I was raised. I believe Red Deer County has the best Alberta has to offer, with incredible potential, and I look forward to working together to plan a future that honours our roots while strengthening our community.
My parents raised Thoroughbred horses, and the sport of racing has been part of my life from the beginning. Today, I work for Horse Racing Alberta as Manager of Backstretch Development, where I support the hundreds of people who care for horses at racetracks during the season. I also maintain a small band of broodmares and raise foals, and have a retired racehorse and Quarter Horse for pleasure riding.
Through my career in management and communications, I have learned the importance of listening to stakeholders, leading with integrity, and applying common-sense solutions to challenges. These are the values I will carry forward in service to Red Deer County.
Bowden Brewster History
James Brewster II built the Brewster Stopping House in about 1889, just east of Bowden on the Calgary-Edmonton Trail. They offered food and lodging for travelers and water for horses.
James Brewster III took up farming in Bowden after he returned from WWI and married Jean McLaren. They lived on the farm until 1968 when they retired to the town of Bowden.
James Brewster III was my grandfather, and he was one of the original councillors when the Municipal District of Red Deer was formed in 1944. He was elected Reeve in 1949 and held the position until 1955.

Julie Brewster Today
I live on an acreage just south of the site of the original Brewster Stopping House. I am proud of the legacy that the Brewster pioneer families established in Bowden and Banff, and I am committed to carrying their spirit of progress forward. Their example of hard work, resilience, and community building continues to inspire me, and I want to honour that legacy by serving Red Deer County with integrity, accountability, and a vision for the future.
